Crime in Mozaique Legal Aid Manager: here’s the journey so far
For some time now, you’ll have followed Accesspoint’s journey across creating their Mozaique Legal Aid Manager. What started with a lightbulb moment when the market didn’t offer a modern, SaaS legal aid solution, turned into our entire team working together to build exactly that for legal aid firms across the UK.
After months of hard work, Legal Aid Manager arrived. Civil was complete, the AI Enhancement Assessor wowed our clients on every demo we ran, and the civil dashboard became a gobsmacking moment as law firms realised how easy it was about to be to have clear, efficient oversight of matter data, all in one place.
Then clients asked us: “When will Crime be ready?”
The answer is NOW.
What makes Crime in Legal Aid Manager different to other legal aid solutions?
Matter data re-envisioned, and all in one place
Our intuitive dashboards have everything you need to know about your legal aid data, all in one place. For both crime and civil, you get a real-time overview helping you stay organised and in control. When managing and viewing so much data (from matters, to time recorded, unbilled time, claims awaiting assessment, draft claims, unclaimed WIP) you deserve a decent overview to help you digest so much data and focus on your case. And law firms can see what requires attention without needing to search for it.

Move a matter from police custody to final court billing in one click
We’ve removed manual selection within Legal Aid Manager so you can move from police station to magistrates in one click. Moving to the next “class” or tier updates the billing rules, fee structures, and required forms automatically.

Built for compliance and designed for reality
With direct support from the LAA, we’ve strictly followed legal aid rules while mirroring the day-to-day workflow of practicing criminal lawyers. The software feels natural to use, because we’ve designed each step against the reality of handling a criminal defence case, rather than forcing you to adapt to rigid or unnatural tech workflows.
This is practical legal aid software that respects the rules of legal aid but fundamentally aligns with how you work every day.
Remove unnecessary steps with smart branch profiling
During contract set up and matter management, Legal Aid Manager profiles the branch to remove additional steps for fee earners.
- The Old Way: You open a new matter, select the client, and then must click through dropdown menus to select the branch, select the correct legal aid contract, and manually check a box confirming it is a “designated area branch.”
- The New Way: Legal Aid Manager recognises that you log in from the London branch. It knows the London branch only handles designated area contracts. It automatically applies these settings in the background.

Instead of forcing you to manually select specific contract details every time you open a new case file, Legal Aid Manager already knows who you are and fills in those settings automatically.
Log prison or police station attendance in real time with mobile and remote access
Cloud capabilities let you record time and log police station or prison attendances in real time from outside the office.
Scott Brown, Managing Director said:
“The team have worked so incredibly hard on creating a solution that is modern yet practical. We’ve taken the necessities of a robust legal aid solution and built it from the ground up using Accesspoint’s innovative and fresh perspective around the future of legal tech and what we believe law firms want from their tech going into the future. We’ve created an enhanced user experience, with all the practicalities and data features you expect to see in a reliable legal aid solution. And it’s not going to end here. We’re working on something really exciting behind the scenes that we cannot wait to share with everyone soon.”
